This last weekend marked One year since Grandma passed away. I've been thinking about her and thought I'd just share some memories I have of my wonderful, sweet Grandma John.
Grandma had the most beautiful perfect white hair. I always thought she was the cutest, most "classic" looking grandma ever. I mowed her lawn for lots of years. Even though she was getting old she'd never let me do it alone. She'd always insit on dumping the grass, and when I was younger she'd push me back to the lawn mower in the wheel barrow. When we'd finish the lawn we'd have a glass of Rootbeer together or run across the street to RB's for a candy bar.
Christmas candy... No one makes better Divinity or fudge. Christmas always reminds me of her.
Speaking of candy, I loved snitching a treat from Grandma's candy dish or a Star Crunch (usually a stale one) from the cupboard.
Hugs. Everytime I was with her I got a million hugs. There was never a doubt in my mind that she loved me. Her family was her everything.
Grandma's beautiful yard and garden. Sometimes I find myself singing, "I have a garden, a lovely garden..." now, and everytime I see a pink rose I think of her.
Grandma's testimony. Every card I got from her has her testimony written in it. That is something I treasure more than anything now.
I love you Grandma! I miss you, it's been a long year without you but I know that we'll be together again. I'm grateful for the many memories we shared.
