Vegas Vacation

Jordan and I took a little vacation down to Las Vegas this last week for our Spring Break. We had a wonderful time, enjoying the sun, relaxing, spoiling ourselves, and just spending time together.

I was a little jealous of my parents and McKenzie though. They spent the week down in AZ with my sister Julianne and her family. Oh how I miss them. Her kids are seriously dolls. And... Julianne announced she is pregnant with baby #4 this week too!! I am so excited.

Anyway... back to our trip. We stayed at the South Point hotel, at the very south end of the strip. It was really nice, minus the smoky casino part of course. (Are people seriously still smoking?!!... It's really gross.) We had a great time sight seeing, and just wandering the streets of Vegas. Jordan fell in love with all the art galleries, and wished we had 2 million extra dollars just sitting around, so he could invest in beautiful art that would look ridiculous in our house. :) haha

One of my favorite parts of Vegas is all the flowers and beautiful landscaping, at the different hotels. Love it!

Another one of my favorite parts is that we were able to see the movie "Hunger Games". I loved all the Hunger Game books, and was so excited to see the movie. It didn't disappoint.

One thing we were both really looking forward to was walking through Caesar's Palace, to get to our favorite restaurant, "Cheesecake Factory". Mmmmm Red Velvet Cheesecake never gets old.

We had an adventure one day and discovered Red Rock Canyon, which is just 20 miles west of the strip. We went on a little hike, and climbed all over the red rocks. So fun.

We spoiled ourselves royally and went to a few shows while we were there too. We both LOVED Phantom. It was seriously awesome.

And then we went to Gordie Brown, a musical impressionist. He was really good, but it might have been a little funnier if we were about 20 years older. We'll blame it on the fact that Jordan's 50 year old co-worker suggested this one to us. haha It was fun anyway.

It was nice to just get away together. And the last time we were in Vegas just the two of us, was on our Honeymoon. What a happy 4 1/2 years we've had together.

Destiny's Baptism

Jordan's niece, Destiny, was baptized last Tuesday. It was such a special day for our family to be a part of. Destiny is almost 10 years old, and decided she wanted to be a member of the church. Her family has been having the missionaries over, and Destiny decided she wanted to be baptized. We are so proud of her, and happy for their family. One of the neatest things is that Destiny's Dad, Brandon, has been working hard with the missionaries too, and was able to baptize her. What a great thing for their family.

She was just glowing, and so excited to be baptized as you can tell.

Since Destiny had a "convert" baptism, she was confirmed on Sunday in Sacrament Meeting by her Grandpa. It was a great thing to be a part of, and yet again, I was proud to have a husband that can use his Priesthood.

What a cute family. Jordan's sister Chelsea is such a great Mom.

I gave the baptism talk at Destiny's baptism, and hope she knows how much we love her.

We're a proud Aunt & Uncle, that's for sure.

March Update

Nothing too exciting happening around the Harrison home these days truthfully. But I felt like I needed to document a few little details for personal journaling reasons.

First off, Jordan applied for a job working at the OCC as a bank examiner. He really wanted this job. I wasn't so sure if I wanted it. It would've entailed a lot of travel, but a lot of great benefits. He found out this week that he didn't get it though. He might reapply in the Fall. So we'll keep that it the back of our minds. But... because he didn't get the job, he'll stay at the bank which is just fine. He likes it there, and so do I. His boss wants him to "job shadow" one of the commercial loan officers for a while, and work on becoming one himself in the near future. Good thing about the bank too is that they have agreed to pay for Jordan's Masters Program if he could prove it would apply to his job. He took off this last semester of school to work on "proving" it applied, and to make the bank pay for tuition verses us starting in the Summer. Now Jordan just needs to decide if he's going to stay at Westminster or transfer to Weber State. Weber State is interested in him now that he's "proven" himself by going to Westminster and doing well there. Weber State is closer, cheaper, and a shorter program, so it would be nice. But Westminster is good too. He finds out in May if he's "offically accepted" to Weber, and then will decide where he'll be finishing his Masters Degree.

-Sometimes I wish things would be more cut and dry, and easier to make decisions about. I feel like there's so many variables with Jordan's work and schooling, but I do know that things happen for a reason. Jordan has really matured through this whole process, and I'm realizing how smart he really is. I know that wherever we end up job and school wise, it'll be the right place and thing to do. I'm grateful to be married to a man that makes wise choices and always councils with the Lord and me in decision making.

Next up... we got our tax returns back today. Jordan and I decided we should put all the money towards our Mazda car payment. Then Jordan called me and suggested we just pay off the entire car loan and eliminate the debt completely since we have the extra money right now. Talk about a weight lifted off the shoulders. It feels so good to know that the only debt we have now is our house. Hooray!!

We had a fun Spa Night for our Young Women's activity the other day. The girls in our ward are so cute. I just had to post this cute picture of them. The youth is our ward also put on the sacrament program last week. They sang the most beautiful song together, that brought the spirit so strongly. I'm finding out the longer I'm in this calling how much I love the youth. I want them to succeed, and know how special they are. The youth program in the church is sooo important.

Presidents Day Weekend

We took advantage of the long Presidents Day weekend in February and took a little trip down to St. George Feb. 17-20th with my parents and McKenzie to go to the Parade of Homes. The houses were beautiful as always, and my parents seriously almost bought one. We all fell in love with this one certain house, but decided it would be better to stay in Davis county in the homes and neighborhoods we love, but just add some little upgrades to our homes. Be prepared to see some big changes in my parents house soon, I seriously think they caught the remodeling bug while in Sunny St. George. We saw a few things in the homes that we'd like to change in our house too.

1) Take down the boring flat mirrors in the bathrooms, and upgrade with framed mirrors similar to this one.

2) Upgrade our bedroom set. We'd love a distressed cream set. It would look so pretty with our blue paint. (Even though I'd love to change the blue to a grey. Jordan is currently strongly against a paint change though.)

3) Jordan wants to paint the walls and floor of the garage. He wants to do the floors with epoxy like this.

And 4th) I'd like to frame around our windows with white baseboards eliminating the need for drapes.

Basically... we like to dream. Our house seriously is gorgeous, but it's fun to look at things, and see what you can do to improve your living space. So, we'll see if we get around to doing any of it.

Also, in one of the homes we walked through, they had giant TVs all over the house playing the Kenny Chesney Concert!!! This was mine and McKenzie's favorite house hands down. Who wouldn't want a house with Kenny Chesney playing on every corner?! (Besides Jordan of course).

Besides going through the houses, we had fun playing games with my mom's family who was also down there this weekend. We went to the movies, ate great food, shopped the outlets, and went on a run with Dad. What a fun break away from work and reality. (Speaking of running. The half marathon is coming up soon. We're up to 8 miles now, and we've been feeling great. I just bought me some new running shoes. Hooray for running enough to wear out running shoes quickly :)

I Heart Valentines

We had a great Valentines Day this year as usual. I'm always in favor of a holiday that celebrates the love you have for others. I realized that this was Jordan and I's NINTH Valentine's day together. Crazy how fast time flies. I love that man of mine so much. We have each other figured out pretty well by now. We don't need much, just the company of one another. Hooray for being in love!

Jordan's been working on a small side business with his buddy, Bret, called WebCRM the last few months. I'm not sure how the business exactly works to be completely honest, but they're having fun with it, and it has brought in a little money on the side, so I'm cool with Jordan doing it. Jordan convinced me to let him buy a tv with the money he's earned, and I caved as a Valentine's present:)

Our friend Aaron came over and helped us cover up this giant alcove above our fireplace so we could mount our new tv and it wouldn't look ridiculous. We both really like how it turned out, and Jordan was nice enough to let Harry Potter be the first movie we watched on the big screen.

We may be lame, but we spent our Valentines Day eating take out and chocolate dipped strawberries together, and enjoying our new toy. We're spoiled, but as you can see from the tv above, it was time for an upgrade.

I also had fun this February going up to my sister Camille's house where she threw a Valentine's party for her girls and some friends. She is seriously SUPER MOM. She threw such a cute party, and the girls had a blast.

Two Babies In One Day

Happy News!!! Casey and Nick had their baby on Jan. 31st. They named him Clint, and he is absolutely adorable. Even Jordan is in love, I mean look at him.

I'm so excited for them, and they're going to be such great parents. I love how happy Nick is in this picture. Proud Daddy, that's for sure.

Casey is amazing, she did so great, and is going to be an awesome Mom. I'm going to watch her every step to prep me for motherhood one day.

We love this family of 3 so much!!

*I guess I should note that Jordan and I also got a baby today too. Our baby came from RC Willey though. I finally gave in and let Jordan get a flat screen TV for the family room. I was telling a friend at work today about the TV and Clint being born. She said, "How cool, Nick & Jordan both got babies today... only difference is Jordan will actually get to sleep tonight." I must admit, the TV is pretty cool, but sorry... I'm in love with baby Clint.

Who Is This Man I Married?!

Jordan continues to amaze me. He is definitely not the same boy I fell in love with nine years ago, that's for sure. Here are a few things he has been up to lately that have been so out of character for him. Haha

First off, Jordan has become OBSESSED with ice fishing. My dad recently introduced him to this sport, and he his hooked. Here he is with his trophy fish (note: last time Jordan caught a fish, was when he was 9 years old.) He is out almost every weekend ice fishing now. Last week we bought him an official "ice fishing" pole, and he has plans to go fishing TWICE tomorrow. (One of these times at 6am mind you.) Who is this kid?

Second, Jordan has recently become a basketball referee. This is actually quite amusing to me. He was asked to ref church basketball every Thursday and Saturday for the young women, young men, and elders in our stake. And of course, they didn't give him any info on how to do this, or any equipment to use. So thankfully I was making fun of his new church calling at work in front of a 70 year old patient of mine, and the patient spoke up and said he was a professional referee, and would be willing to help Jordan get started. Haha. What are the chances? So... we went to my patient's house that night, he suited Jordan up with ref shirts, whistles, and handbooks all for free. What a great guy. So Jordan has been studying basketball like crazy lately, and become quite the referee... and I think he's awesome. And to top it all off, I was at the young women's basketball game the other night, and the girls in my ward started cheering for Jordan. Haha I was dying. They kept cheering, "Go Jordan, blow that whistle, blow that whistle real hard!" It was probably because they don't see good looking refs all that often ;) haha It totally made my night.

Oh, and on an even funnier note. My friend went to her neice's jr high basketball game, and guess who was reffing the game?!... Our 70 year old patient!!! Haha she took this picture of him and sent it to me. I had to document it because 1) It's just hilarious and 2) I wanted Jordan to see what his future could hold if he continued his reffing career up. hehe

Third, I'm pretty sure my husband is getting a teeny, tiny bit baby hungry. Our two best friends are pregnant right now, and I think it's getting him thinking :) He called me from work the other day, and said he stopped at the store to look at TVs, and then decided to look at the baby clothes too since he was there. (What?!!!) And then he found the cutest U of U baby outfit, so he just had to buy it for our friend's baby. -The man I married 4 years ago, would NEVER have done this.

Bottom line... the man I'm married to now is nowhere near the same man I met nine years ago... He is SO MUCH BETTER!!! Love him.
